I really needed this one today! I have a plan to completely change myself and my identity, starting October 1st, and I haven't yet articulated it out loud to anyone except my two closest friends, who are extremely supportive. I will start sharing the plan in the next couple of weeks, but my identity crisis is huge.

I'm going to take a year-long sabbatical, starting October 1st.

But who am I if I'm not working? Who am I if I'm not busy in meetings, with clients, doing work admin, and not being a job title? Yes, that's my ego talking. And just like you said about the white T-shirt and jeans, it's also telling me that I need to lose 50 pounds and be a sylph-like being if I'm going to be taking a year 'off'. Ugh! I just want to be me!

So thank you for the prompt to just be myself during this massive change!

Woohooo! This is huge! Wow, what a journey you have ahead of you. And you’ve revealed your intention right there in what you said: ‘I just want to be me’ - time to discover what sides of you emerge when you are free of work pressures and responsibilities. Have you done the Values workshop I ran a few months back? That could be a lovely place to start - focus on your values - let those be your anchor and your compass on this journey. And give yourself permission to be unapologetically, imperfectly YOU. We’ll do it together 🥰

You are so right about my intention to be ME!

Although I haven't done your Values Workshop, I have done a lot of thinking about my core values, and I have 5 of them - all beginning with C. Courage is in the centre. Then there is Connection, Creativity, Contentment, and Curiosity.

These are what will be guiding me during the next twelve months, and beyond.

Thank you for all your inspiration Selina!

This is very similar to what just came up for me too! As I look to build a life and career that are a slower pace, with less ‘work’, I realise I’m very resistant to having that free time and space. It feels incredibly indulgent and lazy to me, even though I admire it in others and clearly want it for myself. Interesting!

Best of luck with your sabbatical! I’m sure you’re going to love it.

Ooh this is so interesting - it's so important to dive into this because it's these beliefs under the surface that actually resist the dreams and desires we want, that can be the very thing that stops us from letting those dreams become a reality!

Thanks Rose!

Yes, isn't it interesting that what we would absolutely endorse and praise other people for doing is something that we ourselves find too difficult, because of all the 'shoulds' that get in the way.

Part of it is other people making me feel guilty. I've started sharing the news and have received a guilt trip from one person already. He didn't say it, but the underlying message was that I'm being selfish for abandoning him. I think there will be more of that...

I'm actually going to start writing about this experience on my Substack, renaming it and starting afresh in a couple of weeks. There really is so much to say on this topic!

Sounds like you're in a similar place, and just talking about it out loud here is a good way to start to get past the guilt and listen to your inner self and what she needs.

Keep me posted!

I’m sorry you’re already facing some negativity - I’m sure that’s their fear talking as you bravely overcome yours!

Great idea to write about it. I look forward to following along your journey, and taking inspiration along the way too!

This was so great and I absolutely love that you didn’t use the word manifesting once

😂 I very rarely use the word manifesting you'll be even happier to hear! So glad you enjoyed this

This is so important, and I didn’t realise it until I heard it.

Interesting about the white T-shirt and jeans. Maybe it’s a way of you realising you have too many decisions to make? Apparently, Z’berg has a uniform of grey hoodie and jeans. That way, he doesn’t have to think about what to wear each day; that’s just what he wears, so it’s one less thing to think about.

😂 well actually I do do that with my jewelry and I LOVE it. Also shoes. I have two necklaces, 1 pair of earrings and I wear every day and two pairs of trainers. So actually maybe I'm more of a uniform person than i realise - it does make life simple!
